Eugene Startup Collaboration Breaks New Ground in Headwear
In the latest news from Eugene’s growing startup scene, two young local companies have put their heads (and expertise) together to create The Adventuress™ Trucker, a trucker hat designed by and for Adventurous Women.
Frustrated with the headwear industry equating “smaller” with “designed for women”, Animosa co-founders Kate Blazar and Jessica Southwick set out to create a new line of hats that supports their company’s mission: to equip and empower women to explore.
Blazar and Southwick turned to local headwear company Cowbucker to help develop the first hat in the product line. Cowbucker’s mission is to champion Better Adventures™ through innovative product design, quality workmanship, and an obsessive focus on the best outdoor experiences. The two companies spent a full year prototyping, designing, testing, and ultimately creating an innovative trucker-style hat for women.
With an obsessive focus on the outdoor adventurer experience, the Adventuress Trucker solves problems that women have experienced with headwear for years (Spoiler Alert: it’s not only about the fit). With a shallower crown and back opening twice the height of a traditional trucker, The Adventuress lets women wear their hair however they want it, from a high ponytail to a “just rolled out of the sleeping bag” bun. The no-snag strap snaps into place without any hair-snagging velcro or plastic snap-straps, and the gray moisture-wicking sweatband keeps the hat feeling cool while hiding dirt and grime.
With three hand-painted landscape designs that evoke all of our favorite adventures, a limited quantity of the first-run Adventuress Truckers are available online at animosa.co and cowbucker.com. $1 of each hat sale will go towards The Cairn Project, supporting programs that expand outdoor and wilderness opportunities for pre-teen and teenage women.
Animosa makes Gear for Adventurous Women™. Animosa's founders Kate and Jess are passionate about two things: 1) adventuring outdoors, and 2) empowering women. We founded Animosa with a simple mission: to equip and empower women to explore.
Through an adventure-driven, community funding model, The Cairn Project supports programs that expand outdoor and wilderness opportunities for pre-teen and teenage women. For a broader community of women seeking to further their outdoor passions, we are creating a platform to share information, resources, and stories that inspire adventure.
