Back in 2012, three new friends found one another during first-year orientation at the University of Oregon. Over the next few years, they found common ground in craft beer, wild ping pong rivalries, and exploring the great Oregon outdoors.

During these outdoor expeditions, the crew kept running into the same problems. Some days it was brutal sunburns on the river, other days torrential downpours at the stadium. Most often it was just the abundance of poor headwear options better suited for an archaeology conference.

With six months to go before graduation, the three friends debated a simple idea—what if there was a cap that allowed the head to breathe like a trucker hat, but prevented the “redneck effect” with a full brim for 360-degree shade? Was such an amazing piece of outdoor gear even possible?

After several cardboard prototypes (and recycling bins filled with craft materials and beer cans), the friends launched their first product in Fall 2014. They called it The Bucker, and it was the world’s first ever cowboy-trucker hat combination. They sold thousands.

Since then, Cowbucker has established itself as one of the most unique headwear companies in the world, equipping weekend warriors with functional outdoor gear for climates ranging from Eugene to Everest. From the lake to the tailgate, Cowbucker creates each new style with the same core purpose -- with a focus on Better Adventures™.

From the moment Whitney was awarded the title of 1992 Champion Junior Gardener at the Clackamas County Fair, at least 3 people other than her parents knew she was special. Born and raised in Oregon, Whitney enjoys taking full advantage of everything the state has to offer: the high deserts, rivers, beaches, and everywhere in between. Whitney figured out the affect group singing and beer can have on teamwork as a college rugby player, and thankfully found a company that values those things just as much.

As the runner up in the district 2nd-grade spelling bee, Chris always knew that he was destined for greatness. He just didn’t know how to spell “BREAKFAST.” With that flaw now fixed, Chris prides himself on his ability to find creative solutions to problems people never knew they had. Rarely does a minute at work pass by without him thinking of spending time with his family, being out in the beautiful Oregon landscape, losing at fantasy football, or celebrating his losing team with fantastic Oregon beer.

Growing up in the Inland Empire, Tom had a lot of time on his hands. He spent most of his childhood playing outdoors (when he wasn't grounded). Growing up 'round the hills and valleys, lakes and rivers of North Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Western Montana gave him a deep appreciation for the outdoors and an unflappable sense of adventure. These days, Tom is adventuring all over Cascadia, spending a lot of time developing his palate for fine potent potables, and watching as many sporting events as his wife will allow. Tom is easily the best fantasy sports player in the office, which causes some heated debates and tears.

When Jamie's not rewatching episodes of "Friends" for the 1000th time, you'll find her outside soaking up the beauty of the PNW on a hike or working on her newly acquired "Adventure Rig" (a.k.a. a 2003 Chevy Astro van). She's a fresh Oregonian, having moved here in 2017, that has a deep love of the West Coast and the amazing landscapes and adventures that can be found here! She and her husband, Elvis (yes, that's his real name and yes, they got married in Vegas) are always looking for new places to explore, so please shoot any suggestions her way!
